Role Description
- The Program Manager & Value Creation Lead will be a core member of our team’s leadership.
- The candidate will lead the design and execution of our structured investment-readiness initiatives serving as the primary architect for how we prepare and transition high-potential businesses into the fund. Beyond the program cycle, the successful candidate will drive value creation by defining and prioritizing the scope of hands-on operational support provided to our portfolio companies to ensure they achieve commercial scale.
Program Support, Monitoring & Growth
- Lead the end-to-end design, management, and execution of WEAV’s structured programs aimed at preparing high-potential businesses for capital.
- Source and manage the selection, and graduation process for program participants, building a high-quality pipeline for the fund.
- Develop comprehensive strategies that address the unique needs of founders and align with the fund’s overarching impact and commercial objectives.
- Interface with companies to track their progress post-program, monitoring how readiness training translates into commercial success.
- Build and maintain a community of alumni, external mentors, facilitators and partners,
Portfolio Value Creation
- Conduct thorough assessments of each portfolio company to identify needs and evaluate them against the broader ecosystem and market dynamics.
- Formulate a comprehensive TA strategy that addresses the unique needs of each portfolio company and aligns with the overall fund objectives.
- Provide operational support to portfolio companies including Just-In-Time tailored technical assistance on key growth challenges – including organizational structure and hiring, developing market expansion strategies, developing product go-to-market strategies, supply chain optimization, etc.
- Communicate effectively with portfolio companies, and partners regarding the fund's TA initiatives and leverage additional resources.
- Monitor portfolio performance and generate regular reports on the fund’s performance.
Key Requirements
- Highly motivated professional with 8+ years of experience in operations, venture capital, program management, or management consulting (with a demonstrated track record) in Sub- Saharan Africa.
- Strong operational knowledge gained from working within a company or providing advisory services to companies.
- Demonstrated experience in building communities, managing stakeholder relationships, including strong relationships with other ecosystem actors e.g. incubators, accelerators, VCs, etc.
- Proven track record of delivering measurable outcomes across complex programs and portfolio initiatives.
- Genuine and demonstrated commitment to WEAV’s mission of being a gender transformative business and in working with early stage and growth companies to build scalable and sustainable businesses.
- Highly analytical with strong expertise in project management, portfolio value creation, strategic problem-solving, and business model analysis.
