About the job

  • Adexen was mandated by an international company in the manufacturing and distribution of building materials to recruit a Financial Controller for Nigeria. The position is based in Lagos.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, accounting records, and reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure proper accounting controls across all departments
  • Monitor cash flow, expenses, and budget performance
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory filings, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulators
  • Review payroll processing and statutory deductions
  • Support management with financial analysis, forecasting, and decision-making
  • Implement and improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Supervise and review the work of the accounts team

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • A Professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA) is required
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a trading or FMCG environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and tax compliance
  • Experience working with inventory, cost control, and warehouse-related accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
