Job Description
- Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate income tax, VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory returns.
- Review tax computations and ensure accuracy and timeliness of submissions to FIRS and relevant State Tax Authorities.
- Coordinate tax audits, investigations, and correspondences with tax authorities.
- Advise clients on changes in tax legislation and implications for their businesses.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws and relevant international standards.
- In depth knowledge in the preparation and filing of client’s company income tax, and other statutory returns.
- Review tax computations and ensure accuracy and timeliness of submissions to FIRS and relevant state tax authorities.
- Coordinate tax audits, investigations, and correspondences with tax authorities.
- Follow up on client’s tax clearance application at the relevant tax office until when issued.
- Advise clients on changes in tax legislation and implications for their businesses.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws and relevant international standards.
- Develop and implement transfer pricing policies in line with the international and Nigeria transfer pricing regulations.
- Prepare and review TP documentation, benchmarking studies, and TP disclosure forms.
- Advise on intercompany pricing strategies, intra-group services, and cost allocations.
- Liaise with tax authorities during TP audits and defend client positions.
- Monitor global TP developments
- Provide strategic tax and TP advisory to clients to optimize tax positions.
- Review tax implications of cross-border transactions, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Identify opportunities for tax efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Support business development initiatives through proposal writing and client presentations.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business, Tax Law or any related field.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
- Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria or its equivalent.
- Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Other Requirements:
- A minimum of 4 -7 years progressive tax consulting experience in services to firms.
- Excellent communication skills (including oral, written, report writing and presentation).
- Problem identification and solution skills (including core, conceptual, and analytical thinking).
- Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax related concepts, legislation, procedure and guidelines.
- Up to date with changes in tax laws and professional standards.
- Strong commitment and proven record of professional and client service excellence.
- Analytical, with the ability to interpret key data.
- Proficiency in tax software and accounting tools used for tax preparation and compliance.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office and other IT applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Great team player.
