We also seek a qualified and experienced staff nurse with at least 2 years in a Dialysis and Registered Nurse unit to work on our new dialysis unit.
- Candidate should be prepared to work in different speciality of practice and undergo regular personal development courses organised by the hospital.
- Holding a nursing degree or Nursing school certificate
- Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria or equivalent from another country
- Having some post-qualification experience in nursing
- Being adaptable and able to work as part of a team
- Having empathy and caring for patients and their families
- Having basic computer knowledge
- Knowing how to create care plans and being able to administrate them
- Having clinical nursing skills
- Having emergency nursing skills
- Having a training in Basic Life Support will be an advantage
The dialysis nurse is expected to do the following:
On a day-to-day basis, dialysis nursing involves the below:
- Assessing the needs of patients and creating care plans for them
- Making sure patients receive the correct medication on time, by preparing the dialysis machines and medication
- Monitoring patients and assessing their health throughout treatment, recording treatment received and checking whether care plans need altering
- Educating patients so that they can gain a better knowledge of their health and take responsibility for their wellbeing
- Providing emotional support to patients
- The successful candidate should be prepared to cross cover to help in other clinical areas.
