The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong editorial leadership, sound news judgment, and a deep understanding of digital publishing.
This role requires an IT-savvy professional capable of managing news and feature content across multiple digital platforms while ensuring accuracy, relevance, and reader engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the planning, development, writing, and editing of news and feature stories.
Assign, review, and edit content to ensure factual accuracy, clarity, balance, and editorial standards.
Research, write, and edit original news and feature articles when required.
Conduct interviews, supervise coverage of live events, and generate compelling story ideas.
Curate, schedule, and manage editorial content across digital and social media platforms.
Collaborate with the tech and design teams to optimize content for SEO, readability, and visual appeal.
Upload, format, and publish stories using content management systems (CMS).
Monitor news trends and stay informed on local, national, and global developments.
Maintain consistency in editorial tone, style, and brand voice.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, English, or a related field.
2–5 years’ experience in digital journalism, news editing, blogging, or online media.
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and editorial judgment skills.
Strong understanding of digital journalism, long-form features, and multimedia storytelling.
Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
Working knowledge of SEO principles, basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva), and social media analytics.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and lead editorial workflows.
Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about impactful storytelling.
Preferred Skills:
Basic video editing or photography skills.
Experience using social media management tools (e.g., Buffer, Hootsuite).
Strong knowledge of Nigeria’s local and national news landscape.
