Job Summary
- The Biology Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in biological sciences to students, fostering scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of life sciences.
- The teacher will create engaging lessons, assess student progress, and contribute to the overall academic and personal development of students.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging biology lessons aligned with the curriculum and prepare students for internal and external examinations.
- Conduct laboratory practical sessions, ensure laboratory safety, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Assess student performance through tests, assignments, and examinations, and provide timely feedback on academic progress.
- Maintain effective classroom management and create a positive learning environment that fosters scientific inquiry and critical thinking.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school activities, professional development programs, and complete all administrative duties as assigned.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations (WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, etc.)
- Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or related field (minimum requirement)
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) preferred
- Master's degree in Biology or Education is an advantage
Certification:
- Valid teaching license/certificate recognized by relevant educational authorities
- Professional registration with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum 3 yearsof teaching experience
- Experience teaching at secondary school level preferred
- Laboratory teaching experience is essential
